In some places you only pay for the use of the venue, while elsewhere the price already includes the guided programme, a separate birthday room, the entertainer or even part of the food and drink.
2. Cake and treats
The price of a custom birthday cake depends on its size, its flavour and, of course, its decoration. If you also want cupcakes, cake pops, decorated biscuits or a complete dessert table, these are worth budgeting for separately.
You do not have to order everything at once, though. A beautiful cake and a few simple snacks are often more than enough for a children's party.
3. Decorations
Decorations can be a few balloons and a birthday banner, but they can also mean a complete themed set-up, a balloon wall or a photo corner.
If your budget is tighter, this is an easy area to save on: choose a few eye-catching elements instead of decorating the entire venue.
4. Extra services
An entertainer, a musician, a DJ, a photographer or a videographer may all end up on the wish list. These can add a lot to a party, but you do not necessarily need several extra services at once.

5. Leave a little reserve
While planning, something almost always comes up that you did not originally account for: an extra guest, a delivery fee, a few additional supplies or one more portion of food.
